Minimum Requirements
1. .NET Framework 1.1, which contains the run-time elements required to run .NET applications. To download, click here.

2. An operating system that supports the .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable, like Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, or Windows XP. Make sure that the version of Windows you use has the latest service packs and critical updates installed.

3. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later for all installations of the .NET Framework.

Required Security Settings
In order to use all the features of Herbert, you must grant it some permissions. The best way to do this is to add "www.wildnoodle.com" to your Local Intranet security zone in Internet Explorer. To do this, go to Tools/Internet Options/Security and click on Local Intranet. Click on Sites, then Advanced, and add the URL "http://www.wildnoodle.com" to the list of Web Sites. Make sure that "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone." is left unchecked. Press Ok three times to save your changes.

Troubleshooting
Herbert does not launch at all

Check that the "Run Components signed with Authenticode" security setting is enabled in Internet Explorer. To do this, go to Tools/Internet Options/Security and click on Internet. Click on Custom Level, and enable the "Run Components signed with Authenticode" security setting. Press Ok two times to save your changes.

Herbert gives the error "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)."

The .NET Framework version 1.1 is not installed or installed incorrectly. Visit the .NET Framework 1.1 page here to install or re-install as needed.

Herbert launches, but shows 0 levels even in the contest version.

You are not using a supported browser. You must be using Internet Explorer 5.01 or later. Note: Showing 0 levels in the tutorial version of Herbert is normal behavior.
